Colour Trends In Kitchen Design

We couldn’t put together a kitchen paint trends piece without including the classic grey .The recent trend for grey has lasted so long due to the wide variety of greys available which mean that it is a highly versatile yet neutral colour. Although ‘grey’ is referred to as one colour it does actually encompass a wide variety of shades; some with blue, brown and even green tones. Therefore, grey can easily blend with many different woods as well as other, stronger colours. Literally, will our love for this colour ever end? Grey does undeniably work great in a kitchen especially if you want to keep things neutral but want to be a tad braver than just going for white or cream.

Try using a few different tones of grey to break up a wall of cabinetry, or choose a different colour for a kitchen island. And if you want more grey kitchen inspiration, we’ve got lots of photos and ideas you are sure to love on our Facebook page JDC Kitchens, Bathrooms & Interiors.

For too long our kitchens have lacked character and personal style, while we were captive to the ‘resale’ mentality.  Today’s kitchens, however, are more personal than ever, with blues, greens and even purples making their debut as cabinet finishes. A simple and stark foundation for an exciting palate of cabinet colour options!

Just when you think the blush pink trend may be on its way out, it manages to reinvent itself. In 2019, the pastel hue is showing up in a place we never expected: on kitchen cabinets. Blush is taking over as the new neutral. It pairs beautifully with natural colours for calming spaces and couples well with bold colours and designs.

In addition, industrial styling has seen bronze and copper increasingly being used as accents, such as light shades, accessories and taps. Whilst in the past we have seen dark worktops grow in popularity, lighter shades are on the rise. Although a black worktop may look stunning, it could limit your options if you ever choose to revamp the space.

A kitchen that’s stained, painted or lacquered in black makes for an astonishingly cosy and comforting space, especially if matched with beautifully grained wood for that much-needed texture and warmth. Going for this look? Ensure the room gets lots of natural daylight and that the artificial lighting is perfectly planned.
